Land clearing in Harrison County, Mississippi

Home/Service Areas/Harrison County

Gulfport is the western limit of how far we go, this is the far edge of the range at roughly an hour and three quarters each way. Realistically this is multi-day acreage work, not half-day jobs.

Why the minimum is $1,500 here

80-105 minutes each way with a machine on the trailer. On a short job that’s most of the working day gone before any clearing happens. Above $1,500 the arithmetic works for both of us; below it, either we lose money or you get a rushed job. We publish it rather than quietly padding the quote. Mobile and Baldwin counties are at the standard $1,000.

What the ground is like

Low and flat along the beach front, rising into sandy pine country as you go north toward Saucier and the De Soto National Forest edge. The northern half of the county is where the acreage work is and where the ground works best.

What’s typically growing on it: Longleaf and slash pine on the sandy uplands, mixed hardwood in the drainages, palmetto and gallberry through the flatwoods. Privet, tallow and cogongrass on disturbed ground.

Density, not acreage, is what sets a mulching price, and ground conditions decide whether a heavy machine should be on your property at all in a given week. See the published bands →

The work we do most here

Larger rural tracts north of the interstate, hunting and timber land, pasture reclamation, and firebreak and access work on managed property.

Permitting

Which office covers Harrison County

Harrison County for unincorporated ground; Biloxi, Gulfport, D’Iberville, Long Beach and Pass Christian each run their own permitting. Same Mississippi state licensing position as Jackson County. We work to a permit you hold, and we’ll tell you when we think you need one, but confirm with the jurisdiction, because we’re contractors, not the permit office. Permit guide →
