Deposits, cancellation and weather delays

Home/Cancellation & Weather

This trade loses days to weather every month of the year. Publishing how we handle it prevents the review that starts “he never showed up.”

Deposits

No deposit is taken before you've seen and accepted a written price.

Ever.

30% is typical.

Where a deposit applies, the amount and the timing are stated on your quote. Nothing is sprung on you.

Deposits are applied to the final invoice in full.

Balance on completion

after we’ve walked the finished job together.

Less than 3 days beforeDeposit retained up to a maximum of $350, or actual costs incurred if lower. A day held for you is a day nobody else could book.
On the day, after we’ve arrived$450 mobilisation charge, or actual costs if higher.
Part-way throughYou pay for work completed to that point, assessed fairly and agreed with you.

If we cancel

Full refund of any deposit, no questions. If it’s within our control we’ll also honour the start-date guarantee.

Weather

We will not work saturated ground, and this is not us being difficult.

A tracked machine on soft ground leaves ruts. Ruts channel water, water deepens the ruts, and in two years you are still looking at a scar across your property. Waiting three days costs you three days. Working wet costs you the ground.

How weather delays work

Wet ground after the rain stops

Worth understanding: the ground stays soft after the rain has passed. In the low country around Theodore, Irvington and Bayou La Batre that can be several days. We’d rather tell you that than turn up and damage your property to keep a date.

Rescheduling

Need to move your date? Call as early as you can. More than seven days out is usually straightforward. Inside three days is harder, because a machine-day held for you is one nobody else could book, but call anyway and we’ll do what we can.

Payment

Tell us what's on the ground. We'll come look at it.

Call and you get John Williams, not an answering service and not a dispatcher. If it’s after hours or a Sunday, send the form and you’ll have a text back and a callback first thing.

Before you call

Have ready
The property address or parcel number, roughly how many acres you want opened, and what's growing on it: pines, hardwood, scrub, privet.
Don't have that?
Call anyway. We can pull it up on the county parcel viewer while we're on the phone.
Smallest job we take

Out of state
$1,500 minimum in Mississippi.
